Where to find us

The Minories is located in Colchester’s cultural quarter at No. 74 High Street, alongside Firstsite, Hollytrees, the Castle and the Natural History Museum. With our secure walled garden and cafe, we are ideally located for a pause on your day in the city centre.

We want everyone to feel welcome in our spaces, so we have put together information about where we are, how to find us, and what to expect in our spaces.

We are based in a Grade II listed historical building, and are currently only partially wheelchair accessible. We are working on our accessibility, but in the meantime, if you need any advice in advance that you cannot find on this website please contact us and we will be happy to help.

How to get here

What to expect when visiting our spaces

This short video gives you an idea of what to expect when arriving to our building and moving around our spaces.

Our facilities

Wheelchair accessibility

Our gardens and part of the ground floor of our building, including our cafe and toilets, are accessible with a wheelchair via our step-free entrance on Lewis Gardens. Our upper floor is not currently accessible via wheelchair, however we are working on this within the constraints of a listed building.

Toilets

We have gender neutral and accessible toilets available on the ground floor. We have baby changing available.

Food & drink

We have a cafe located on the ground floor at the rear of our building. They serve freshly prepared food, hot and cold drinks. You can find out more here.

First aid

There are first aid boxes located around the building and our staff are trained in Emergency First Aid.

Seating

We provide ample seating throughout our galleries and garden.
